Jump Putts, are we finally done with them?

jumppy

In the Disc Golf world this is known as the controversial Jump Putt. As beautiful as it actually looks, in my mind it has always been illegal. This in absolutely NO way shows balance behind the marked lie. This seems to be yet another example of the pdga allowing “stuff” to be, just because it’s easier than enforcement or change. Absurdity doesn’t even begin to cover it. In this shot the disc golf disc is just now out of the hand and she’s is a full body length ahead of her marked lie. She is not going to have any balance “behind” her marked lie. There is NO way that is a legal putt and the day has come to abolish this nonsense. Should be at the top of the list for a change or amendment. This is something quite basic to see and understand, not sure why the pdga is so resistant to accept that it is a problem and needs fixing or changing, or even better yet removed from the game entirely. Many players on tour are doing this, it appears to be the normal putt for many a touring pro.

The Stance RULE

802.07 Stance
A. If the lie has been marked by a marker disc, then when the disc is released, the player must:
1. Have at least one supporting point that is in contact with the
lie; and,
2. Have no supporting point closer to the target than the rear
edge of the marker disc; and,
3. Have all supporting points in-bounds.

AND that forward step putt, I mean, Really??

I still haven’t come to grips with the 2 meter rule being all but eliminated from the game either, what do I know? Might as well have a basket in the middle of a clear field with 18 different tees to throw from. What happened to Risk vs Reward in Disc Golf? You don’t always get rewarded for a bomber rip, or trying for a risky gap way up high. That’s how we learned to play this game. That’s why in my opinion the G.O.A.T. will be Mr. Ken Climo, 9 straight the hard way!
